Yet another quick update, because I'm terrible at resisting posting something like this, a preview of something I've commissioned as part of a release for the new store, it arrived in my inbox today from Kit at Zinge Industries.

New Sculpts Incomming
It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally about to send off some more bits to the casters which will form part of my Life Guard Heavy Infantry conversion kit, unlike with the Roughriders, these bits will all be available seperately through a webstore. The webstore will also stock the Roughrider kit with a revised Torso, a new Infantry torso, and lots more goodies which I've got planned - some very close behind, some a little more distant.
Anyway, just a quick look at a couple of the new bits.
Finished Carapace Torso
Finished High Energy Laser Gun
And finally, a mockup of the style for the Life Guard Heavy Infantry Helmet, these will follow in the next wave as a sprue of heads.

New (Potentially Praetorian) Releases from Victoria Miniatures, MaxiMini & Warlord Games
Seems while I've been distracted Victoria Lamb and Warlord Games have previewed and indeed released yet more goodies suitable for alternative Praetorians!
First up we have the long awaited Victorian Guard Arms and Lasguns, now available from Victoria Miniatures, now available for sale from Victoria's webstore HERE.
You can see the full range of Victoria's Infantry bits in the below pic, quite a collection! I've just ordered a small sample of several of these along with a couple of the Roughriders - looking forward to having a play around with them after Christmas, suffice to say I'll be blogging about them once they arrive.
Finally from Victoria Miniatures is a preview of one Captain Caine, not available yet, but hopefully soon!
Meanwhile, Warlord Games now have their British Zulu War Plastics on pre-order HERE. Each box comes with enough bits to make 20 Plastic Infantry and includes 4 metal command figures to boot, all at a price of £20.00, not bad eh? Of course there is a down side, these will almost certainly be true scale 28mm as opposed to GWs Heroic Scale 28mm, similarly to Wargames Factories offering, that said these looks much better sculpts and that, combined with the price make them worthy of concideration.
Finally, look what has been previewed on DakkaDakka HERE as a forthcoming release from Maxi-Mini - another company getting in on the Pith headed action!

NEWS - Pith Helmetted Head Available for Pre-Order

The 28mm Pith Helmetted Heads are now available for pre-order from Secret Weapon Miniatures, the set includes five different heads and will be cast in metal at a cost of $5.00 per set with shipping estimated on the 27th of September.
PRE-ORDER HERE
Tuesday, 20 April 2010
Now for Sale - Resin 28mm Pith Helmets
As quite a few people who have read the blog in the past will be aware I'm in the process of working on a sculpted Pith Helmetted Head sprue suitable for Heroic Scale 28mm figures, they've been in the pipeline for sometime and will be a bit longer yet due to plans afoot for a new venture.
However due to demand, for the time being through TrooperPX's Resin Casting Service the basic Helmets will be made available in sets of 10 at a cost of $4.00 (US) per set. Please note that these sets can only be purchased through TrooperPX, I am not handling any of the monies of casting for this project so you will need to contact him through the Bartertown website HERE.

These helmets are ideal for conversions, here is a quick example with a Games Workshop Imperial Guard Catachan head mounted on a Tank Commander Torso.
Shown below is one such helmet, it has had the pour channel removed and any flash has also been trimmed away.

The top of the head can then be removed using a scapel, and then filed down to fit the line of the helmet base.

Depending on the head and how cleanly you prepare it you may need to fill some gaps as here, a little greenstuff work adding just a little hair or ears.

And here is the finished, painted, result.

EVENT - The Exeter Inquisition Presents a 40k Campaign - "The Emperor's Light"
“There she is gentlemen, I give you the Emperors Light!
Lost since the great crusade, the importance of this great ship that you see upon your view screens cannot be underestimated. Upon this giant Agri-Ship we believe lies a fragment of a Standard Template Construct, perhaps one of the greatest of them all! Imagine a device that not only has the power to destroy the ability of a world too support life, but one which enables us too create a complete ecosystem within only a few shorts months!
We few have been assembled to take and hold this ship at all cost’s, the price of failure can not even be spoken of. We have received reports from our scouts of an enemy fleet of comparable size to our own inbound to this location it, it would seem that our foes are as stretched to strike out for this asset as are we.
Assemble your forces, prepare to launch, time is of the essence.
We must prevail!”
The Exeter Inquisition are currently half way through a 40k map based campaign that see's the forces of light and darkness pitted against each other aboard an Agri-Ship, the 'Emperor's Light', aboard it if reports are to be believed lies a fragment of a functioning STC Terraforming device.
The campaign mechanics are simple, each player has a 750pt pool which they must submit to the campaign organiser as it can not be changed, from this they may select 500pt armies, following the standard FoC chart but with the only mandatory choices being a single Troops choice. Each player then alternates between playing offensive and defensive actions - for an offensive action you nominate a hex to attack on he map, find a player on the opposite side and play a game (with slightly altered mission and deployment zones and occasional random game effects caused by proximity to the STC device), if the aggressor wins they capture that territory. You should then play a defensive action, volunteering to be an opponent for the offensive action of a player on the other side. This means that a player can just attend one session for the whole of the campaign, or every session, it really does'nt matter as long as you have a great time!
Anyone is welcome to come along to our club night's which run every Tuesday from 6pm to 10pm at Games Workshop Exeter on Sidwell Street, normal club fee's are £2.50 per session, but your first session is FREE. The campaign will be running for another 4 weeks, but we run other regular and semi-regular events as well as reglar gaming.

EVENT - LNO Charity Tournament
Some of you may remember a little advert I did for Wolfy for a Fund Raising 40k Tournament back in October, Wolfy, aka Ralph has recently been in touch again with further details which I'm happy to post up for those interested. FYI the tournament is due to be held on the 25th of April 2010.
Enough blather from me, over to Wolfy

Right Guys,
I have assembled a tournament pack explaining everything there is to know about the Tournament, and how you go about securing a place in it. New prize support is coming in daily, so I will update that in this thread. I am giving priority too (Leeds Night Owl) Club Members, and there are a total of 20 places in the Tournament. Your place can be secured by sending me an email, details of what to provide in the message are in the Tournament Pack.
Non-Club members will need to confirm their place with Payment, Club members do not have to, although it would be great if you could pay in advance to give me a bit of a cushion to purchase some of the prizes with. Payment is accepted via Cheque or Paypal.
The Tournament Pack is available from the link below. If you spot any errors, please let me know ASAP so they can be changed.

New Imperial Guard Hellhound & Demolisher
Stonedrose has posted a thread on HERE on Warseer with pictures of the new all plastic Imperial Guard Helhound. This kit has been rumoured for some time with an early CAD shot of what we now know to be the Devildog having appeared around a year ago.
The new kit will retail at £30.00/$49.50 according to a Price list which takes effect from the 1st of June posted HERE on Warseer by forthegloryofkazadekrund.
Hellhound:

Banewolf:

Devildog:

What do you think of the look of the new model? Personally I'm liking the hull alot, and also the Devildog turret but am finding myself less fond of the Hellhound and Banewolf turrets.
EDIT: The New Demolisher kit has now also been previewed by Games Workshop and brought to the attention of the community on Warseer HERE by Scryer in the Darkness. Further Games Workshop's preview text which can be found HERE confirms that the kit can be assembled as the Punisher and Executioner variants in addition to the standard Demolisher - it also mentions further new 'Bitz Packs'.

The kit also includes updated sponson weapons.

The kit is believed to cost £30/$49.50 according to the previously mentioned price list. It looks like there has been some slight reworking of the hull, the hull mount assembly appears as if it may have been slightly altered in the way it is assembled, extra rivets have appeared on the back around the engine hatch and the rivets on the sponsons have been resized - of course the most noteable changes are the new turret (even if like the Helhound it seems to have horrible join lines) and the updates sponson and hull weapons. One last thing to note on the subject of the sponsons, as with the Hellhound the different weapons have been showcased on the same tank chasis, which means the models are either innately swapable as part of the design or at the very least would be with the addition of magnets.

John on his blog John's Toy Soldiers has posted pics of the New Sentinel with Plasma Cannon and of the sprues, note especially the details of the leg assemblies. Other then that I'm off on my travels in about 10 hours heading for 18 days travelling across the USA from San Fransico to Dallas, we might even drop in on the Bell of Lost Souls guys depending on how much time we have left!
See you all in a couple of weeks!

The Plastic Shadowsword Emerges
Well that finally settles all doubt on the Plastic Shadowsword, this picture appears to be from a german issue of White Dwarf, I came across it on Warseer, however first credit appears to go to "Anung Un Rama" on DakkaDakka.
Excitingly according to a translation of the text below the picture by Darnok on Warseer,
"March will see plenty of new Apocalypse releases""
and,
"the best thing about it: this is only one out of six superheavy variants, that you can build with parts from the box!"
We can only speculate on what those might be, but that must surely include at the very least Shadowsword (Volcano Cannon), Stormsword (Hellhammer Cannon - by IA:Apocolypse) and Stormblade (Plasma Blastgun). There is also the possibility of the Stormlord variant of Super Heavy Assault Transport (Transport Capacity and Vulcan Mega Bolter) as appeared in Apocolyse:Reload, this has been heavily rumoured with a number of CAD images also spotted, it seems likely that this would also be one of the options fromt this kit.
