A first draft for what will become my 'standard' 1500pts list, at the moment I'm trying to fit in both my favourite units, but also in an effective format.
At the moment I'm working on the basis of a strong firebase formed around 1st Platoon while 2nd Platoon provides a mobile element - though thanks to their Chimera's they too have a fair amount to contribute to the overall firepower of the army, certainly I could turn to Veterans for this, but I perfer to have more units.

Imperial Navy Thunderbolt Pilot (Updated)
A little more work, and some new pictures can make a bit of a difference, he could do with some more I'll admit, the highlights on the back especially leave something to be desired, but I'm hungry to get on with something more Praetorian now, so this'll do!

I feel the need... The need for speed!
Is it a bad thing that I have the sound track to Top Gun playing? If it is then quoteing the film for a post title is definately even more worrying. No I'm not watching the film, nor do I have the soundtrack CD or even from the PC, it's just on in my head.
I assure you there is reason, and a fairly good one as it happens. While I'd planned to get on with some new Sergeants and Leman Russ bits I've ended up painting Forgeworlds excellent Imperial Navy Thunderbolt Pilot. I've had this model sitting around in the pile since it came out and just had'nt got round to painting it, but with two online painting contest's coming up at the same time I decided to break it out, and boy am I glad I did, it really is a joy to paint, both as something which is a break from the norm for me and as it's simply a beautiful model.
About a days work, based very heavily on Karl Kopinski's excellent artwork from the Aeronautia Imperialis Rulebook, has got me to what you see below, theres a fair way to go yet with plenty tidying and detailing to be done, but I'm pretty pleased so far infact it's one of those occasions where I'd say the photo's dont do it justice, though thats not least as it's not focusing properly for some reason.
The only catch at the moment is he does'nt have a plane... an that just aint right.
Hmmm

Hobby Fund (1st April)
Okay, still not back into hobby mode after getting back, I've been ctaching up with a whole host of other things which I need to get done first, one of those is balancing the books so without further ado here's an update on the hobby fund.
March went pretty well all in all with lots of sales including most of the remaining Krieg stuff I had, with a final gross sale of almost £170, of course that adds up to a hefty sales bill on ebay, even worse once Pay Pal fee's are added on. Purchases were actually relatively minor, a few bits an pieces and the killer a Shadowsword which I could'nt resist in the end - opps.
It's not likely that I'll sell much in what remains of April, more likely I'll concentrate on sorting out more, I'll then line up some sale threads on the likes of Warseer, and maybe pop a post of what I'm getting rid of on the blog for anyone who's interested. There's also the Legionary event coming up in Exeter early next month which offers a 'Bring & Buy' stall, so I'm almost certainly putting some things up for sale there.

The Wanderer Returns
Well I'm back, quite tanned and very tired, America was amazing, though I'll admit I'm happy to be back in blighty! While it was the scenery which really made the holiday for me I can't mention it without saying a special thanks to bigred and the rest of the guys from Bell of Lost Souls who we spent a day with as they played a tournament at their home store of Battleforge Games and later at Trudy's for someexcellent Tex-Mex food in Austin, Texas. It was great to meet the guys, and to get a real perspective of the hobby in the US!
With so much travelling I've also done quite a bit of theorising with the new codex, though I'm still not settled on my final list I've got a pretty good idea of the core of it, the only real pain for me is the whole Sergeant issue with them unable to take Lasguns now... given all my sergeants have Lasguns. Looks like they'll be some more conversions in order before my army can be ready for the new list afterall.
I know I've got some email to catch up on, so if you've dropped me a line in the past couple of weeks I'll get back to you now ASAP.
