The Year of the Poor Bloody Infantry

I did'nt make a New Years Resolution previously, so here comes a belated one.

I've got a fair old pile of unpainted basic Praetorian squads, with the last 35 man Platoon of D Company, and the full 110 men of E Company remaining only undercoated. So this year I'm going to make a real effort at getting all of this lot painted, as well as finishing the Leviathan of course! That may be a bit of a challenge, but its worth a go, and I've made a start already. I'm going to track progress on the blog, with the remaining guardsmen I'm aiming to paint this year on the left hand side.

I might start thinking about the rest of my Heavy Weapons Batteries if I can get through this little lot...

That's a lot of PBI! I wish you all the best with getting them all done!

Cheers

A bold plan... but when you break it down, that's "only" needing to get one chap out every few days.

Love the countdown idea and wish you good luck!

You might want to consider setting up a painting chart for your guard if you haven't already...

I have twenty still to do after getting them on Ebay, but for me its PBEyes. I never seem to get around to finishing faces.

Wow that sure is a lot of men. I was thinking my new 50 men and russes would be a task to complete... but you sir have a daunting task far superior to mine.

That being said I will try to paint my 50ish Pretorians in the same time frame may even steal the counter idea ;)

Painting red is hard, would you mind posting your infantry painting methodology? I think a bunch of us readers would appreciate it. :)

Cheers chaps! Your righ oink it does'nt sound so bad when you break it down, adds up to roughly one every couple of days for the rest of the year - the reality is I'm a heck of a slow painter! I do have a painting chart, but like the army its never been finished, because I keep deciding on things I want to add - opps!

Anon - In a nutshell, I go Red Gore -> Blood Red -> Blazing Orange on the masses which is a reasonable look, there are far better ways of painting red though.

nice idea, I did this last year with all my infantry to get them finally done as my tanks took my attention.

The added bonus of making a blob guard list helped push me to finish them all up get the heavy weapon teams done and now I'm complete bar 5 Secret weapon mini 6x6's which i'm planning how to mod for multi use.

I did find doing batches of 40-50 men to be the best, single colour and once applied stopping for a bit then comingback and applying another colour to keep me from being bored. Think it worked out 5 days to do 50 to tabletop standard.

Wow that is a lot of bodies! I look forward to seeing your progress as you have some really great stuff on your blog. I think I would struggle to paint that in 3 years as I am a very slow, methodical painter but never set myself a timeline (maybe I should!). Good luck!
