And yet something else...

Alongside the English Civil War force - which will be replacing my Space Marines as is only right an proper my Warhammer Fantasy army is also moving to the fore.

As mentioned previously I did have a Fantasy Orc & Goblin army - which I quickly fell out of love with - instead it was sold and replaced with a motely collection of Warriors of Chaos. I quickly settled on doing an all mounted army as the idea appealed to me greatly, even more so when a list which was written for me by one of my club mates proved... somewhat nasty.

Here is the force in full at present, as you can see there are a few unassembled models, several assembled (mostly with whole tubes of glue), a few undercoated and some Knights in varying degrees of ... well something. I'm going to focus on one unit at a time for the moment, they won't be getting a really time consuming paint job, I'm hoping to do this mostly with washes as it's a functional army rather then a really nicely painted one.

The first unit which I'll be working on is this unit of Marauder Horsemen who will be equipped with a Musician, Light Armour, Spears and Throwing Spears - with the Mark of Slaanesh.

Commission - WFB Dragon Repair (Part 2)

I'm still beavering away at the moment on various projects, with a couple completed or very nearly completed, first of those completed from the most recent batch is the WFB Dragon repair job.

The wing join was quite badly damaged and required a complete repair and some resculpting, this I've now finished, retaining a removeable socketed joint as was asked by the customer.

The finished body with it's socket...

...and the finished wing with it's pins.

The hardest bit about the repair was getting the join between the wing and body to look right, I made extensive use of cooking oil (as I would with greenstuff casting) to get a fairly tight fit without the surfaces bonding, I've left it slightly loose though as once painted and varhished it should then become a good tight fit as is shown in the above and below shorts of the join.

And thats that, one Dragon ready to fly again, I've got to say I found the project really enjoyable, sculpting scales and skin is a real change of pace from the projects I'd normally tackle for myself. I just hope I hav'nt shot myself in the foot with this job though, I'm expecting to start seeing this Dragon across the table soon!

Commission - WFB Dragon Repair (Part 1)

The Brief -

A plastic WFB Dragon which was knocked off and had it's wing snapped at the join with the body, a hasty repair involving lots of plastic glue was made. My task is too clean up the damage caused by excess glue, and repair the wing in such a way that it can be removed for transport.

The Commission -

My first step was to remove the wing, this proved qutie a bit easier then I'd expected given the amount of glue used, I suspect though it's probably a case that while lots was applied to the joint itself much of it simply seeped out from it when pressure was applied.

The next stage was to clean up the model removing as much gunked plastic as I could, a pin job followed. Intact the original wing had a single large joint, however I opted for two smaller pins fixed at about a 45degree angle.

With these in place I broke out the greenstuff, firstly I rebuilt the structure of the body in such a way to form a tight fit for the wing so that it was both a sturdy fit and could be painted to look good despite being an organic looking detachable part. I've now started to detail this with scales mirroring that on the undamaged side of the model.
